A visa requirement applies for many countries’ nationals who wish to enter Germany.
An up-to-date list of all countries subject to visa regulations, as well as those which are not , can be obtained from the German Federal Foreign Office.
You can find general information on visa on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office too.
The Frankfurt Book Fair will gladly assist you with your visa application by providing an invitation letter.
You can apply for this service on our "My Book Fair"
platform. If you are not yet registered on “My Book Fair”, you can create a new account here as an exhibitor, trade visitor or journalist.
Once you’ve completed your personal and professional profile, you’ll find the link to the invitation form on your “My Book Fair” homepage.
Invitations will be sent as from June on.
As an exhibitor, you should be included in the “Who’s Who” listing for your company. This is generally handled by your company’s “My Book Fair” online administrator. This will allow us to process and send your invitation letter quickly.
As a journalist, you can apply for your accreditation from our press department starting in July. You can, however, request your invitation letter even earlier. You will receive it once your accreditation has been approved.
Book Fair attendees from China who require visas should contact the BIZ Beijing starting at the beginning of July.
The decision on whether a visa is being issued or not lies with the German embassies and the consulates-general exclusively.
Exhibitors, trade visitors and journalists from countries subject to a visa requirement must contact the relevant German mission abroad (embassy or consulate-general) in good time to inform themselves about specific local conditions that may apply.
You can obtain a list of websites of the German foreign missions from the
German Federal Foreign Office website.
During peak travelling periods you may need to wait very long to get an appointment for your visa application, so please be sure to submit it early.
Information regarding the documents required is also available from the website of the respective foreign mission for your area, or from the local mission itself.
Please take note of the customs regulations for entry to the European Union (EU) and Germany.
Kindly be informed that special customs regulations apply to currency, traveller’s cheques and shares etc.
