THE MARKETS – is the pre-fair conference of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, providing publishing professionals with unique, first-hand knowledge of new and emerging areas and regions of business in publishing. It is where top market performers meet and exchange their secrets to success.
THE MARKETS will turn its attention to five markets: France, India, Southeast Asia, UK and the USA.
Renowned representatives from these countries and regions will report on current changes and analyse trends and developments.
The New York literary agent Andrew Wylie will open the conference. In his keynote, Wylie will exam, among other questions, what effect Donald Trump’s style of governance could have on the publishing industry.
A panel discussion on the topic of “Shifting perspectives” with participants from a number of markets will round off the morning with a glance beyond the horizon of the publishing sector.
Conference visitors who have individual questions regarding the presented markets can ask these in personal conversations directly at the Book Fair: Three market players from each of the respective markets will be available for matchmaking appointments and to provide information about various areas including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, distribution, co-editions and many others.
