Karl-Dedecius-Preis for Polish translators of German literature and German translators of Polish literature
Every two years, a German and a Polish translator of outstanding merit are rewarded with prize money of 10,000 euros each and support in their linguistic bridge-building work between Germans and Poles. Candidates for the 2009 Karl-Dedecius-Preis for Polish translators of German literature and German translators of Polish literature can still be proposed through to 15 December. Translators can also nominate themselves. The award ceremony will be held in May in Craców.

Gustav-Heinemann-Friedenspreis for children's & teen books 2009
The submission deadline for the 2009 Gustav-Heinemann-Friedenspreis for children's and teen books is 31 December 2008. The prize is awarded to books that encourage children to be active in standing up for their beliefs, in promoting tolerance, human rights and non-violent forms of conflict resolution. It is awarded in various categories and comes with 7,500 euros in prize money. Children's and teen books and non-fiction titles published for the first time in German in 2008 are eligible, as well as picture books.
