In search of the World Book Capital 2011

Cities all over the world are invited to submit a wide-ranging literary and cultural programme to qualify for the title of World Book Capital 2011. On this occasion, however, applications from Europe and North America are being excluded.

The title of World Book Capital has been jointly awarded since 2001 by UNESCO, the International Publishers Association (IPA), the International Booksellers Federation (IBF) and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutes (IFLA). Amsterdam holds the title this year, with Beirut to follow next year.

Applications for the World Book Capital 2011 must be submitted by 31 March 2009.
