Pikcha.tv brings picture books to life

Filming picture books and having them read out by professionals: this is the concept behind what describes itself as the first picture book channel on the internet. Current bestsellers like "Princess Lillifee" are included in the pikcha.tv pay-to-view programme alongside classics such as Janosch's "Oh wie schön ist Panama".

At the moment, a total of 150 picture books and 250 episodes of TV programme "Sandmännchen" are available to view. Ten more films are to be added each month. A large number of the films are also available in English. Authors and illustrators have the chance to present as yet unpublished picture books on the channel in film format.

The new picture book television is intended for two to seven-year-olds and their parents, setting out to be an alternative to other multimedia options that, according to the operators, are frequently not age-appropriate.

Pikcha.tv is run by Childentertainment GmbH whose main shareholders are Tivola Publishing GmbH and Mixtvision Medien GmbH.
