I was born in the city of Oaxaca, México on July 22th, 1982 and studied there until high school. I then began a career in administration in Denmark in 2001. A year later I returned to Oaxaca to take over the book store “Proveedora Escolar”, following the death of my grandfather and founder of the company. Since 2003 I have been running the Book Fair of Oaxaca which became international in 2006. In 2005 I founded Almadía publishers, and in 2008 Serie Ve publishers which will soon see the light of day (central theme: “Theory of the image”). I’m an editor of the literary magazine Numero Cero along with Guadalupe Nettel and Pablo Raphael, a magazine owned by Almadía publishers. Taking together all these companies, our main aim next to publishing is creating programmes and cultural events to promote reading, visiting libraries and bookstores and to stimulate an interest in books.

Editorial Almadía was set up in Oaxaca, México in 2005 with the intention of investing in new and well-known authors with literary proposals, and of recovering valuable books and translating the new voices of other cultures. The design of the books is very important as we want them to be artistic books. The relationship with the author is extremely important as well because we work together in every part of the process.
